At Ingerman Smith, L.L.P., we have vast experience in commercial matters affecting our municipal clients. The attorneys at Ingerman Smith provide legal advice and counsel on simple purchasing issues as well as complex construction, real estate and tax certiorari matters. Many of our attorneys routinely represent our clients in purchasing/bidding matters before the courts and the Commissioner of Education.
Attorney Mary Anne Sadowski leads the Construction Law practice group which is actively engaged in representing our school district clients on construction issues, including day-to-day advice. Currently, more than half of our school district clients are engaged in substantial construction projects. We are routinely called upon by school districts that we do not regularly represent to provide services as construction counsel. To provide our clients with top quality service, we have prepared our own recommended contract forms to be used in connection with bid documents as well as for design professionals and construction managers.
We have an active tax certiorari practice led by Neil Block. When a commercial entity or residential property owner seeks a reduction in taxes, the Firm assists our school district clients in intervening, where permitted by law. We have successfully established relationships with local county and town officials and on behalf of our clients, have taken an active role in the determination of tax certiorari settlements being considered by the local county/town. If agreement is not reached, we are experienced in vigorously litigating these matters to protect our clients' interests.
In addition, the Firm handles real property matters for our school district clients, as well as for commercial developers and individual homeowners. We are versed in the complex issues attendant to negotiation of commercial real property leases and purchase/sale agreements.
