Mr. McCarthy is a graduate of Boston College and Touro College's – Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. During law school, Mr. McCarthy interned within the New York State Attorney General's Office where he assisted in the investigation and prosecution of unlawful franchise offerings via the New York Franchise Act and Securities Act.
Immediately after law school, Mr. McCarthy initially served as an Assistant County Executive in the Suffolk County Executive's Office where he developed press releases, assisted in the coordination of all communications with various media outlets, and worked as a legislative liaison within the Suffolk County Legislature.
Thereafter, Mr. McCarthy worked for four years as a Senior Assistant County Attorney within the Suffolk County Attorney's Office initially prosecuting child support and paternity proceeding within the Family Court of Suffolk County and then defending civil claims commenced against the County as a member of the State and Federal Torts Bureau. Mr. McCarthy also served as an Assistant Town Attorney with the Town of Brookhaven between 2004 and 2007 where his duties included serving as counsel to the Town of Brookhaven's Zoning Board of Appeals. In 2008, Mr. McCarthy further served as Village Attorney for the Village of Bellport.
Since joining the Firm, Mr. McCarthy has primarily concentrated his practice in the areas of general litigation, student and employee discipline, land use, and general education law issues.
Mr. McCarthy is admitted to the practice of law in the courts of the State of New York and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He is also a member of the Suffolk County and New York State Bar Associations.
